Acetyl-salicylic acid has a number of favorable effects on the human body, and it has been used since 1898 to produce one of the oldest drugs, Aspirin, which has many beneficial effects. These facts are actually proven. However, there is a natural source of acetyl-salicylic acid – organically grown fruits and vegetables.
The first characteristic of aspirin is its soothing effect on inflammation. It inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which participate in the production of prostaglandins, and prostaglandins are essential factors of pain and inflammation.
With completely the same mechanism of blocking cilooksidaze, Aspirin prevents the synthesis of thromboxane, a substance that leads to the formation of blood clots. The extensive research and clinical trials conducted in 60s and 70s have proved this.
In a group of 1,000 patients who already had a heart attack, aspirin reduced the subsequent mortality by 25%, and subsequent studies have shown that regular daily taking of aspirin reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke by 33%.
Salicylic acid is similar to vitamins
More recent researches have shown that aspirin may have effects as antioxidant, in order to act preventively to breast and colon cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease – it is assumed, with its anti-inflammatory effect on the inhibition of prostaglandin.
How such a simple remedy can have so multiple effects?
In this case, the point is that salicylic acid, the main ingredient of aspirin, is not really a cure, but the essential ingredient of nutrition! Our organism requires acetyl-salicylic acid in the same way as it needs vitamins.
It has been proved that acetyl-salicylic acid is contained in large amounts in fruits and vegetables, but considerably higher in organically grown, especially in one that is only slightly squashed (which in modern conditions of consumption is generally rejected!).
By its action on the body salicylic acid is similar to vitamins. When there is enough of it, everything is fine, but when there is a deficit – in the longer term result is disorder. Since the modern diet is just like that, people are missing salicylates (salicylic acid are salt), and their vacant place is filed by drug called aspirin.
Unfortunately, like any other drug it also has some undesirable effects and contraindications, and is not always the best option. However, the introduction of salicylates naturally – through the fruits and vegetables – has the same positive effects on the human body as aspirin.
Vegetarian diet instead of pills
The studies performed on Buddhist monks, who are vegetarians, have shown that they have higher levels of salicylates in the blood than the control group.
Therefore, due to the already mentioned effects of salicylic acid, they have a lower risk of heart attack and stroke, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. Therefore, a diet rich in salicylates – based on fruit and vegetables, primarily organic – has all the positive effects same as aspirin, and at the same time there are no side effects of using tablets of acetyl-salicylic acid, known as aspirin.
