One of the most popular action stars in cinematic history, Sylvester Stallone is best known for portraying boxer Rocky Balboa and Vietnam War veteran John Rambo.
The story begins in 1946 and it probably deserves its own movie. Sylvester Stallone was born on July 6, 1946, in New York City. His trademark, droopy visage was the result of a forceps accident at the time of his birth. A nerve was severed in the accident, which also left him with slurred speech.
Sylvester Stallone had a difficult childhood. Both he and younger brother Frank were adversely affected by their parents’ hostile relationship, which later ended in divorce. Sylvester Stallone spent some time in foster care. He eventually ended up in Philadelphia, living with his mother and her second husband. There Stallone struggled emotionally and academically. After his expulsion from several schools, he attended a special high school for troubled youth.
After graduation, Sylvester Stallone eventually went on to college. First, he attended the American College in Switzerland, where he studied drama. Stallone then went to the University of Miami, again choosing to focus on the dramatic arts. He left school before completing his degree to move to New York City to pursue an acting career. While he waited for his acting career to take off, Stallone worked all sorts of jobs to make ends meet. He cleaned up the lions’ cages at the Central Park Zoo, ushered at a movie theater and even made an appearance in an adult film called The Party at Kitty and Stud’s.
In his search for any role, Sylvester Stallone remained so “broke” that once he spent three weeks sleeping homeless on New York’s bus terminal.
Things were getting only worse and worse, so that Stallone at one point was forced in desperation, to sell his dog, the only friend and longtime companion in wandering the streets of New York. A complete stranger gave him 25$ for the dog. Stallone had to accept it.
– This was the deepest bottom of his life despite the fact that he occasionally had to shoot porn movies for a living. But it was also a moment of reversal!
With 25$ in his pocket, got the “salvation straw” for a couple of weeks and then one day, as he watched the match of the famous Muhammad Ali he came to an idea to write a script for a movie and he spent the next three days writing the script in his shack.
Amateur, ignorant, but honest and ingenious screenplay for the film “Rocky” was over in three days! It was not long, and Stallone has found the first producer who was willing to enter into the job. The offer was enormous 125,000$ for the script, because the unnamed film shark “smelled prey”. Although homeless and penniless, Stallone refused this offer (the offer was around one million dollars in today value). He refused it because Stallone was explicit: “This scenario can be bought only with me in the lead role.” He continued to live as a homeless person, but he still had a dream to become an actor. Two weeks later, the same producer offered him 325,000$, without Stallone in the lead role. Sylvester again said, “No”! After e lengthy negotiations, the two sides have found agreement! Stallone has agreed to sell the script for only 35,000$, but succeed in his s primary goal – the lead role in the movie!
Do you know what Sylvester did with the money he received?
The rest is history.
With 35,000$ in his pocket, immediately he found the stranger to whom he sold his dog and bought it back for 15,000$! That dog will later appear in the movie “Rocky”, in several scenes, but the most famous is the one where the two of them are together winning 72 steps staircase in front of the “Museum of Art” in Philadelphia.
Filming began far from the public eye; it was completed in just 28 days. The film earned $200 million, from homeless person Stallone became a millionaire and world-famous actor and all who later collaborated with him also got rich.
He succeeded only because he has never given up the dream!
At the end, we will quote “Rocky” where in conversation with his son, says: “Life’s not about how hard of a hit you can give… it’s about how many you can take, and still keep moving forward.”
Stallone follows a hunter/gatherer type diet that he laughingly called the green face diet; if it had a face or it is a green vegetable, he eats a lot of it!
He explained his philosophy on diet: I maintain a high protein diet. If it floats, flies, crawls or runs, I eat it. High protein – That’s all.
A typical day looks like this:
- Before breakfast: a glass of liquid amino acids
- Breakfast consists of easily digested foods. For example, two eggs, four figs, and toasted pumpernickel bread.
- Workout after relaxing for more than an hour “to give the food time to digest.”
- Lunch: salad, broiled skinless chicken, broiled squash and some figs or berries
- Dinner: broiled fish or occasionally veal, another salad, steamed spinach and a couple of slices of dark high-fiber toasted bread.
- Eggs Diet – Lose Weight Fast!
- Mediterranean Diet for Improved Sexual Health
- Pegan diet conquers the world
